Pregnancy & after birth
Reformer Pilates that changes with your body, in small classes where your instructor knows where you are in your pregnancy or recovery.
Reformer springs can support your body as well as challenge it, which makes the reformer a good fit for many pregnant clients. Your instructor adapts positions, range and resistance as your pregnancy progresses, for example by limiting time lying flat on your back later on.
How you join depends on your history:
You are welcome to continue in our open-level group classes with modifications. Tell your instructor you're pregnant before each class begins.
Contact us before you book. We usually recommend starting with private sessions, so your instructor can build a practice around you.
Before you start: check with your OB, midwife or healthcare provider before beginning or continuing any exercise program during pregnancy, and follow their guidance over ours.
Your body has done a lot. Once your healthcare provider clears you for exercise, Pilates can help you reconnect with your breath and deep core, then rebuild strength step by step.
If you have diastasis recti, pelvic floor symptoms or pain, tell us before your first session. A pelvic floor physical therapist is a valuable partner alongside Pilates.

Claim offerOften yes, with your healthcare provider's approval. Please contact us before booking. We recommend beginning with private sessions, so your instructor can teach the reformer safely and set up each exercise for your stage of pregnancy.
Once your healthcare provider clears you for exercise. That timing differs for everyone, and recovery from a cesarean birth often takes longer. Starting with a private session lets us meet you where you are.
Our group classes are open level, and instructors modify for pregnancy inside every class. Classes stay small, so your instructor can keep an eye on you throughout. For a fully tailored plan, private sessions are the best fit.
Tell your instructor how far along you are, or how long ago you gave birth, before class begins. Also mention any pain, dizziness, pelvic floor symptoms or restrictions from your provider. Stop and let your instructor know if anything feels wrong during class.
Tell us where you are in your pregnancy or recovery, and we'll suggest the right way to start.
